I beleive that twitter does have a purpose this is because it is the way of communicating with your family,friends and celebrities. You are able to update your status to tell people who to follow and what you are up to and you can see thier status as well.



Also this gives celebties a way of communicating information to thier fans they are able to update thier status with information about when thier next video will come out. In a way this is free advertising for them , and they are able to send the information out to thousands of people in one go.

Twitter has another purpose and that is for companies to use this as a way to promote up and coming events, for example orange promoted the musis festival orange rock corps, to all of thier followers. This saves the organisation time and money and then they rely on thier followers to forward this information to thier followers and so on.

However i do beleive that people should be careful about what they put on thier status as this could be passed around the whole world within a matter of secnods. Do you really want people to see you doing something that could be classed as illegal?

I am on twitter my self and i find a useful way of communicating with people who I would normally be able to speak to, so yes I do think that it has a purpose.
